[REM]EMBER

[REM]ember is an ongoing project that calls attention to the ways in which Black communities and other marginalized peoples are unable to occupy certain public spaces and engage in healing practices. Mia Imani Harrison and JOY MA worked with local, cultural organizers to install the work in five public spaces over two months in the Summer of 2018. Participants of the installation were guided through meditative sound baths by Mia and rocked to rest by sounds created and curated by JOY MA. Mia worked with local fabric shops to gather materials and created the concept of a physical dream chrysalis for participants to rest in. Mia and JOY MA constructed the dream chrysalis at each installation site including the Seattle Art Museum’s Olympic Sculpture Park.
